Overview

Create a fresh, engaging theme for the Caloundra Music Festival’s annual beachside celebration. The goal was to maintain brand continuity for returning audiences while enticing new patrons with an updated, family-friendly marketing suite that captured the event’s happy, coastal vibe.

The Challenge

The key challenge was to modernise the festival’s visual identity and explore new marketing avenues, especially through digital channels, while preserving the well-established brand recognition. A practical component involved designing a flexible set of templates in Canva, enabling non-design team members to quickly create on-brand content for social media and live event updates—helping reduce costs and marketing turnaround time.

The Solution

Each year, I built on the festival’s core brand and colour palette, introducing a new set of modular, interchangeable graphics tailored to that year’s event. These visual assets were designed to work seamlessly across print, social media, presentations, signage, and animation, ensuring a consistent and energetic festival identity. This approach preserved brand familiarity while giving each year a unique and vibrant personality, allowing for reusability of signage and reducing production costs. Campaign strategy was informed by audience insights and performance metrics from previous years. High-performing channels were carried forward and refined, while those with lower ROI were phased out or reimagined.

The Result

The marketing team was able to scale up deliverables year on year without additional staffing, leading to improved market reach and increased ROI. The evolving design themes were consistently well received, reinforcing the festival’s reputation as a must-attend, family-friendly event while keeping the branding fresh and future-focused.
